Your Role: As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in empowering our clients to reach their full potential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Experience in complex Mental Health: Ability to make sound decisions and crisis de-escalation, empathy and patience.
  • Personalised Care: Offering one-on-one support and personalised care to individuals with disabilities, fostering a sense of trust and understanding.
  • Assistance with Daily Living: Assisting with daily activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and household tasks.
  • Community Engagement: Encouraging community participation and social integration to enhance our client's quality of life.
  • Skill Development: Facilitating skill development in areas such as communication, mobility, goals and self-reliance.
  • Emotional Support: Providing a supportive and caring presence, actively listening to their concerns and offering encouragement.
  • Awake-Shifts: Providing a supportive one-on one support and personalised care to individuals with disabilities, ensuring that the support worker is awake through the night even if the individual is asleep. These hours are between 10:30pm through to 7:30am.

Please note that you can be rostered to work across various homes in Brisbane/Logan Area.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • A genuine passion for empowering others
  • Experience in disability support or mental health (preferred, not essential)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • Valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle & comprehensive insurance
  • Current First Aid (within 3 years) & CPR (within 1 year)
  • Strong communication, empathy, patience & emotional intelligence
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A positive & proactive mindset

Your SCHADS Award stream will be based on your qualifications and experience.
