WHS Business Partner (Part-Time)

As our WHS Business Partner, you'll work closely with hospital leaders and frontline teams to strengthen our safety culture, support compliance and help create an environment where our people can thrive while delivering exceptional care.

This is a part-time permanent role (22.8 hours per week across three days), offering flexibility while allowing you to make a genuine impact within a respected not-for-profit health service.

The opportunity

You'll partner with the War Memorial Hospital Executive, operational leaders, Health and Safety Representatives and the broader Uniting WHS team to embed practical, proactive and sustainable safety practices across the hospital.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same. One day you may be leading an incident investigation or supporting an audit, the next you're coaching leaders on risk management, planning emergency preparedness activities or identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes.

Working independently while collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders, you'll play an important role in fostering our Keep U Safe to Thrive safety culture.

What you'll be doing

You'll:

• Partner with leaders to embed safe work practices and legislative compliance.

• Provide practical WHS advice, coaching and guidance across hospital operations.

• Support hazard identification, risk assessments and implementation of effective controls.

• Lead or support incident investigations and identify opportunities to prevent recurrence.

• Conduct audits, inspections and assurance activities while monitoring corrective actions.

• Analyse safety data and trends to support informed decision making and continuous improvement.

• Contribute to WHS training, projects and awareness initiatives.

• Support emergency preparedness, fire safety compliance and emergency exercises.

• Work collaboratively with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD), hospital leadership and Uniting specialists.

• Contribute to governance, accreditation and injury management processes, including supporting safe and sustainable return to work outcomes.

About you

You'll bring sound operational WHS experience together with a collaborative approach and the confidence to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation.

You'll also have:

• Qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Health or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent).

• Experience in a WHS Advisor, Coordinator, Business Partner or similar role.

• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and risk management principles.

• Experience conducting incident investigations and developing practical safety solutions.

• Experience facilitating risk assessments, audits and safety initiatives.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, coach and engage stakeholders.

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Confidence using Microsoft Office and WHS reporting systems.

Highly regarded:

• ICAM training

• First Aid and Mental Health First Aid qualifications

• Experience working within a hospital or healthcare environment

• Knowledge of NSW Health safety, emergency preparedness and accreditation requirements
