You will be working for an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation responsible for providing culturally safe, community led health and wellbeing services to the local community and surrounding homelands. You will be part of a supportive team environment with access to clinical support and professional development while living and working in the unique Arnhem Land region.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing culturally safe, trauma informed counselling to men in the community.
Working alongside Aboriginal Family Wellness Workers and a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to improved health outcomes through community led care, while supporting wellbeing, healing and positive outcomes for the community.
The Location
Located in the stunning Arnhem Land region of the Northern Territory, this vibrant Aboriginal community is home to approximately 2,700 people and is rich in culture, language and connection to Country.
Surrounded by spectacular rivers, wetlands, coastal landscapes and abundant wildlife, the community offers an incredible outdoor lifestyle with excellent fishing, boating, camping and exploring right on your doorstep.
The community has regular scheduled flights to Darwin (approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes), along with local amenities including a supermarket, school, fuel, police station and mobile coverage.
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualification in Counselling or a related Human Services discipline
- Current registration with a recognised professional body
- A minimum two-three years post grad experience
- Experience supporting people affected by complex trauma, family violence, mental health, or alcohol and other drug issues
- Strong understanding of Social and Emotional Wellbeing frameworks and culturally safe practice.
- Experience working with Aboriginal people, communities and families in a health or community services setting is highly regarded.
- Current and unrestricted driver's license
- Have all required core competencies complete or the willingness to obtain prior to commencement
- Must have full Australian working rights (i.e., Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, a valid Working Visa, or New Zealand Citizenship)
