Curis is looking for a Child & Family Counsellor to join a community-based service in Nhulunbuy. It's a Monday–Friday role, with a fixed-term option if you're keen to experience remote life without committing to a permanent move.

This is a varied Child & Family Counsellor role supporting children, young people, individuals and families through counselling, therapeutic interventions and community-based support.
You'll work with clients experiencing trauma, grief, mental health challenges, family difficulties and complex social circumstances, with a particular focus on young people aged 10–25 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
You'll build trusted relationships, deliver evidence-based interventions and work alongside local services to connect clients with the right support.

- Salary packaging up to $15,900

- Conduct assessments, safety planning and referrals
- Deliver trauma-informed and strengths-based interventions
- Develop and facilitate programs for young people
- Support young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness
- Undertake community outreach and engagement
- Work collaboratively with local health and community services
- Maintain high-quality case notes and documentation
We're looking for a compassionate and adaptable practitioner with:
- Experience in remote, regional, Aboriginal community-controlled or culturally diverse services is highly regarded.
- Tertiary qualifications in Mental Health, Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or a related field
- Experience providing counselling to children, young people and/or families
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based practice
- Strong communication and group facilitation skills
- An understanding of mental health and social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB)
- A commitment to culturally safe practice
- The ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Full Australian working rights
