Pastoral Practitioner

Casual Pastoral Practitioner
Uniting Mingaletta | Port Macquarie
Make a difference where it matters most.
At Uniting, we believe in love in action – supporting people through all stages of life and helping our communities to be places of connection, compassion and hope.
We’re looking for a Casual Pastoral Practitioner to join our team at Uniting Mingaletta in beautiful Port Macquarie, providing compassionate, person-centred pastoral and spiritual care to residents, families, carers, staff and volunteers.
Mingaletta is a welcoming 110-place aged care home built around a household model of care, where residents are supported to feel at home and maintain a sense of meaning and purpose in their everyday lives. With welcoming gardens, communal spaces, a café, library and chapel, it is a place designed around connection and community. And being just minutes from Port Macquarie’s beaches and town centre, it’s a pretty special place to work too.
This is a role where your presence really matters.
Sometimes it will be about listening to someone who needs to talk. Sometimes it will be sitting quietly alongside someone through a difficult time, offering comfort during grief or illness, helping someone connect with their faith or simply making sure they feel seen, heard and valued.
You’ll build genuine relationships and provide care that respects each person’s beliefs, culture, identity and life story. Spiritual care is offered to people of all faiths, spiritualities and worldviews, with religious care provided within the Christian tradition in an inclusive and respectful way.
What you’ll bring
You’ll bring experience in pastoral, spiritual, religious, emotional or relational support, along with empathy, compassion and the ability to connect with people experiencing vulnerability, illness, grief or significant life change. Relevant pastoral, theological, ministry or spiritual care study is required, together with CPE or equivalent pastoral formation.

Most importantly, you’ll bring a genuine desire to serve your community and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
If you’re looking for meaningful work where something as simple as your time, your listening and your presence can make someone’s day a little better, we’d love to hear from you.
Join Uniting and put compassion into action.
If this sounds like meaningful work you would value, we would be very happy to have a conversation about the arrangement that could work for you and for our service.
Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Louise Massie via email at [email protected]
Why Uniting?
At Uniting, pastoral and spiritual care is about the whole person.
We welcome and support people of all faiths, spiritualities, cultures and worldviews. Our approach respects each individual’s beliefs, identity, choices and life story while creating opportunities for meaning, purpose, hope, belonging and connection.
As part of the Mission team, you will join an organisation whose purpose is to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice, and whose pastoral care is grounded in compassion, dignity, inclusion and respect.
If you are someone who understands the value of simply being present, listening without judgement, recognising what matters and supporting people through some of life’s most significant moments – we’d love to hear from you.
