NT - Womens Counsellor
Curis Recruitment is proud to partner with a fantastic Aboriginal Health Service in the Northern Territory to help them find a Women's Counsellor to join their team.
Working within a multidisciplinary Family & Community Wellness team, you’ll provide culturally safe, trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic support to women and families. You’ll work closely with Aboriginal Family Wellness Workers, community leaders and health professionals to deliver strengths-based, community-led care.

You’ll support women and families experiencing complex trauma, family violence, mental health challenges and other social and emotional wellbeing concerns. Working alongside Aboriginal Family Wellness Workers and a multidisciplinary team, you’ll build trusted relationships and provide counselling that is culturally safe, trauma-informed and grounded in the strengths of the community.
The Organisation
You'll be joining a respected Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation delivering comprehensive health and wellbeing services across a large remote community and surrounding homeland communities.
The organisation provides a wide range of services including Primary Health Care, Family & Community Wellness, Mental Health and Social & Emotional Wellbeing, Alcohol and Other Drug Services, Child and Family Health, Men's Health, Women's Health and Outreach Services.
Working alongside Remote Area Nurses, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, General Practitioners, Midwives, Child Health Nurses, Mental Health Clinicians and Allied Health professionals, you'll become part of a collaborative team dedicated to improving health outcomes through culturally safe, community-led care.
The Location
Located in the stunning Arnhem Land region of the Northern Territory, this vibrant Aboriginal community is home to approximately 2,700 people and is rich in culture and connection to Country.
Spend your days off fishing, boating, camping and exploring some of the Northern Territory's most spectacular landscapes.
The community has regular flights to Darwin, taking approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, as well as essential local services including a supermarket, school, fuel station, police station and mobile coverage.

Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualification in Counselling or a related Human Services discipline.
- Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with a recognised professional body.
- Demonstrated experience providing trauma-informed counselling.
- Experience supporting people affected by complex trauma, family violence, mental health challenges or alcohol and other drug issues.
- Demonstrated case management experience.
- Strong understanding of Social and Emotional Wellbeing frameworks and culturally safe practice.
- Experience working respectfully alongside Aboriginal people and communities will be highly regarded.
- Current Driver Licence.
- Current Working with Children Clearance (or ability to obtain).
- National Criminal History Check.
- Full Australian working rights.
