Results of the latest survey for older people
The Department of Health and Aged Care
We surveyed older people, families and carers about the latest changes to aged care.
The Aged Care Reform Survey for Older People runs twice a year. It gives older people, their families and carers the chance to tell us how they want to receive information about the changes happening in aged care.
Between August and October 2024, we received 3,172 responses.
What we heard
Participants were most aware of:
- 15% wage increase for aged care workers
- 24/7 registered nurses in aged care homes
- improving food and nutrition in residential aged care.
People were less aware of:
- Council of Elders
- face-to-face support in Services Australia
- Single Assessment System and changes to aged care assessments.
We also learnt that people want to receive information through:
- email/e-newsletters
- My Aged Care Website
- Department of Health and Aged Care website.
